Okay, this one is complicated. Which means I will be even more than usually grateful and impressed with whatever crossover you happen to devise in fulfillment of this exchange. The more I think about the logistics of this one, the more my mind boggles, and I am a serious crossover geek. Thank you very much for volunteering for this madness, and specifically for your willingness to indulge my particular cross-fannish sensibilities.
Anyhow. Per the usual form of these things, here's a cut, because this is going to be even longer than usual.
General Notes:
If you are a regular reader of my "Dear [insert exchange-specific nom de fic here]" letters, parts of these next paragraphs may sound familiar. My tastes in fic are wide and eclectic -- I read and enjoy gen, het, and slash (both flavors) at all ratings and have very few outright squicks aside from noncon, incest, and adult-child kink, but I am not typically attracted to stories for erotic content or angst quotient. Rather, I like good characterization, authentic-sounding dialogue, effectively sneaky plotting, and well-developed wit. I am equally intrigued by clever use of canon and thoughtfully developed AUs, and I am disturbingly fond of crossovers [obvious much?] and well-woven meta threads.
As to romance: where crossovers are concerned, I'm hardly ever drawn to write one for pairing-related purposes, and within individual fandoms I normally gravitate to canon-consistent pairings -- but in the crossovers I read, I've been wowed by a startling range of intriguing cross-fannish relationships (up to and including Buffy Summers and a Ninja Turtle). That said, I add the observation that in my book, well-sustained UST (heavy on the T) is often as good as or better than actual sex, in crossovers as well as canonical relationships.
And it's definitely true that my own writing also reflects the kinds of things I like to read; my AO3 archive is here, and you're welcome to prowl.
Due to the sheer number of fandoms and combinations involved, I have not tried to give specific prompts for every potential match. (If you find yourself needing more guidance on a particular combo, contact the mods per Yuletide protocol, and I'll be happy to amplify.) OTOH, for larger and more sprawling canons I've noted the sub-canons with which I'm most familiar, so that (I hope!) you'll be able to focus on those if that's where our match lies. Where I do give prompts/suggestions, the Optional Details Are Optional rule applies; if your own muse has spawned a Diabolically Clever Idea all on its own, you are totally welcome to indulge said muse rather than following my trails of breadcrumbs.
Canon-Specific Notes:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: I am not conversant with the post-series comics.
DCU: My primary DC canon is the "Timmverse" animated cluster, all the way from Batman: The Animated Series through Zeta Project and Static Shock. That said, I read a lot of the print comics in the '80s and early '90s (tilting toward Gotham City but not ignoring Metropolis, and definitely including a lot of second- and third-tier characters). I have a soft spot for the Adam West Batman and quite liked the more recent Bat-series The Brave and the Bold, but have never followed the (Teen) Titans or the Legion of Super Heroes.
Doctor Who: I came into the fandom via Three, Four, and (especially) Five, but I'm conversant with the full classic canon from One through Seven plus Eight's movie. I have seen Nine's full run and a good bit of Ten's plus the first season of Sarah Jane Adventures, but have yet to catch up on Eleven and am not conversant with any of the Big Finish audio material (darnit!). I am an unabashed fan of Anthony Ainley's Master, was underwhelmed by the whole Rose Tyler arc, and pretty much skipped Torchwood.
Gargoyles: I own the full two-season series on DVD (thank you at last, Disney!), but like most fans I ignore the Goliath Chronicles episodes. Regrettably, I haven't gotten hold of the post-series comics.
James Bond movies: This is heresy, I know, but I've seen all the films except the Daniel Craig movies. Favorite Bonds: Moore, Brosnan, Connery. Least favorite Bond: Hands down, Timothy Dalton. (As you can perhaps tell from this, I am much more into Suave Yet Dangerous Bond than Gritty Angsty Thug Bond.)
Spider-Man: Almost all my Spidey-sensibility is from visual media, not comics. I am fonder of Maguire's movies than of Garfield's, but am happy to see fic derived from either (the Garfields arguably need more fixit fic than the earlier trio). I'm also somewhat familiar with Greg Weisman's Spectacular Spider-Man animated version, and somewhat more so with the 1994 animated Spider-series.
REQUEST #1: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Castle, Doctor Who, Gargoyles, NCIS, Stargate SG-1
Out of all the possible matches for this group, there's only one that doesn't actually bend known physics. If you do hit Castle/NCIS, I will absolutely not be disappointed, and you might consider: McGee's literary endeavors, Beckett's brief sojourn in DC this past season, circumstances in which Alexis might encounter Abby and/or Ziva.
If you matched on Castle or NCIS plus one of the SF/fantasy series, definitely have fun with the "normal" canon getting its worldview expanded by the intrusion of the strange and wondrous. As long as you give the character(s) from both camps a chance to shine, I will be a happy reader.
If you matched on some combo of the four SF/fantasy shows, all I can say is "go for it!" The possibilities for entertaining chaos should be more or less implicit in the particular match, and I trust your instincts to mine the potential effectively.
REQUEST #2: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Doctor Who, Fairy Tales, Marvel Cinematic Universe, ST:DS9
Let's call this the "Agents of C.R.A.C.K." cluster. Push the envelope, take advantage of the opportunities for improbability, indulge in the potential for snark. Try not to let things go too dark, as might be possible with a couple of the combos here. Anything involving DS9 should definitely involve creative universe-bending (although I suppose a Klingon fairy tale could be at least somewhat sane; then again, we've seen what they did to Hamlet). Anything else doesn't necessarily need to bend too drastically...but don't let that stop you.
REQUEST #3: Castle, DCU, Elementary, James Bond movies, Spider-Man
Let's call this one "They Fight Crime!" Because they do. And whichever of these two fandoms have matched, you're looking at crimefighters who will drive each other entirely bonkers just because.
Having said this -- if one of the fandoms in the mix is Castle, feel very free to feature Alexis or Martha; a couple of these could very easily work out very well with that twist. And do not feel compelled to give me casefic; having the crossover occur outside work-hours could work just as well as connecting our heroes professionally.
