What's a Fanfic Advent Calendar?
An advent calendar counts down the days from December 1st to Christmas in some fashion. Many come with little verses inside, some come with little chocolate candy in them. I, being easily amused and too easily suborned to the silly side, have borrowed cadhla's idea of writing a drabble a day till Christmas.

What fandom?
Multi-fandom.

Uh...how does that work?
Every day will have a fandom, a title, and a character or pairing. These will be taken from the comments on the previous drabble. If a drabble receives no comments suggesting the next day, I'll just come up with something. Suggestions do need to have a holiday theme; this is, after all, a countdown to Christmas.

So if I comment first, I can tell you what to write?
Not quite. Whatever is suggested has to interest me, and it has to be in a fandom I know. (My "interests" list includes most of the fan-universes I'm willing to play in, but it's early and I may have forgotten something, so don't take it as a hard limit.) I'll go back over the previous day's comments when I get ready to write the next day's drabble, and work from there. I may or may not, depending on the level of comment -- this being a very new LJ -- store up ideas from early days' comments for later use; we'll see how that works as the volume develops.

How are you doing today?
By looking at any comments I get on this entry, of course (although I may just dive in, too).

Advent Project #1: A Little Holiday Spirit

"Jade," said Jackie Chan, "why is my new shaving brush floating in midair?"

His niece didn't glance away from her SuperMoose gamescreen. "Why ask me?"

"You just gave it to me."

"Good reason." The Black Walrus's tusk-beams scored a major hit, and SuperMoose's energy flatlined.

"Well?"

"Oh, right. It's haunted, that's all."

"You gave me a haunted shaving brush for Christmas?" Belatedly, Jackie realized he'd asked the wrong question. "Haunted by what?"

Jade turned her most confident smile on him. "We're not sure. Uncle said it would be dangerous to leave it in the store for just anyone to buy."

Uncle looked up from the book he was perusing. "Brush holds spirit of animal whose hair it contains, but Uncle not recognize species! Have tested chinchilla, panda, horse, rabbit, fox, wolverine, koala, and yak. Looking up spell for musk ox now."

Jackie's gaze traveled from Uncle to Jade and back to Uncle, and he sighed, wondering what he would look like with a beard.
