7. Nick Fury - MCU

11. Dick Grayson - DCU (animated)
12. Xander Harris - BtVS
Questions & Answers:
1. Who would make a better college professor: 6 (Sarah Jane Smith) or 11 (Dick Grayson)?
Both could certainly do the job, but I think Sarah Jane's a bit better suited to it by both temperament and skill set. I'd take a class from her in a heartbeat.
2. Do you think 2 (Abby Sciuto) is hot?
Yes. Also, water is wet. (Granted, I'm in the largest target demographic -- red-blooded het male -- but I am not sure there's a chromosomal demographic for whom Abby is not hot.)
3. 12 (Xander Harris) sends 8 (Martha Rodgers) on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed?
Hmm. This is probably one of those post-canon Buffyverses where Xander is helping to run the reconstituted Watcher organization with Willow and Giles, and in one of those universes, there's at least a non-zero chance that Martha has either been a Watcher or had a relationship with one sometime in her life. Which means, very likely, that a Potential turns up somewhere in Martha's orbit, and Xander dispatches her to assess, evaluate, and -- if appropriate -- bring the new girl into the fold.
4. What is, or would be, 9's (David Xanatos) favorite book?
Canonically, probably the Grimorum Arcanorum -- the book of spells that was one of Gargoyles' initial McGuffins. In terms of a more mundane work, The Complete Works of Shakespeare is a likely guess.
5. Would it make more sense for 2 (Abby Sciuto) to swear fealty to 6 (Sarah Jane Smith), or the other way around?
[boggle] It's hard to imagine a context in which either scenario makes any sort of sense. That said, I'm trying to remember if Sarah Jane was ever made an honorary Princess of somewhere-or-other while traveling with the Doctor, in which case one can postulate a situation wherein Abby might possibly have to recognize Sarah Jane's nominal royalness.
6. For some reason, 5 (Balthazar Blake) is looking for a room-mate. Should they share a studio apartment with 9 (David Xanatos), or 10 (Hetty Lange)?
This one is easy, because I have a better chance of winning the Mega Millions on Friday than Xanatos (who owns a skyscraper with a castle on top of it) has of choosing to live in a studio. Hetty in a studio is at least conceivable, and she would be a totally polite and well-behaved roommate.
7. 2 (Abby Sciuto), 7 (Nick Fury), and 12 (Xander Harris) have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?
If they're in Washington DC, it's entirely possible that they're at Abby's place because Fury is (as usual these days) in staying-out-of-sight mode, and the conversation is probably about a case of some kind in which NCIS, SHIELD, and the Watchers are all involved. OTOH, for some reason I'm also drawn to finding the three of them in New Orleans, in which they all more or less accidentally find themselves in the same jazz joint and bond over jambalaya.
8. 3 (Pepper Potts) challenges 10 (Hetty Lange) to a duel. What happens?
SIgh. I can only imagine that this was a late-night bar bet, because Pepper is smart enough to know that there is virtually no form of competition in which Hetty will not clean her clock. (Well, I suppose Pepper could out-eat Hetty purely on the basis of larger stomach capacity, but I can't see either woman proposing that sort of contest.)
9. If 1 (Kate Beckett) stole 8's (Martha Rodgers') most precious possession, how would they get it back?
Heh. My first thought was "but this would never happen". My second thought was "well, okay, this would make a funny B-plot in a Castle episode", in which Kate happens on a family relic by accident and comedy ensues as Martha tries to recover it. But then the actual answer hit me: Kate has done just this by marrying Martha's son, and there's no "getting back" from that one -- not in this canon, at least.
10. Suggest a title for a story in which 7 (Nick Fury) and 12 (Xander Harris) both attain what they most desire.
"Personal Demons".
11. What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 (Daniel Jackson) and 1 (Kate Beckett) to work together?
Not too difficult, actually, with a variable or two depending on when in continuity the two characters intersect. Clearly it would involve one of Kate's cases having a connection to the Stargate program, or at the least to a museum exhibit or archaeological artifact with ties to the Ancients, Daniel would show up to look after SG-1's interests, and complications would ensue.
12. If 7 (Nick Fury) visited you for the weekend, how would you get along?
Darned good question. I'm an incredibly unlikely candidate for "takes in kind of an iffy-looking stranger for the weekend" (not least because I have a spare loveseat as opposed to a spare couch). If he's just playing the "nobody in particular" card, I might be a slightly prickly host. OTOH, if the setup allows me to know that this is NIck Fury, late of SHIELD and the Howling Commandos, then I would probably be on my very best behavior...and very quietly grateful once he'd moved on that any incipient disasters he might be involved with were leaving my immediate vicinity.
13. If you could command 3 (Pepper Potts) to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be?
This stumped me completely for about thirty seconds. And then the light bulb went off; what I'd ask her for was a job with Stark Industries -- where they would absolutely have a place for someone with my particular skill set, and would pay well enough to keep me in books, bandwidth, and such for the foreseeable future.
14. If 2 (Abby Sciuto) had to choose sides between 4 (Daniel Jackson) and 5 (Balthazar Blake), which would it be?
Yeesh; this one is a puzzler, mostly because it's hard to imagine a situation in which Daniel and Balthazar are genuinely working at cross-purposes. Although...hmm. They both have canonical ties to Merlin the Magician out of Arthurian legend. I can imagine a case where they might both be trying to obtain a particular Merlinian artifact, or in which Daniel might find himself defending what Balthazar perceives as Morganian interests.
But how to predict Abby's position in such a conflict? Darned if I know; it's likely to depend on the exact nature of the relevant McGuffin, and the specifics of each person's pitch/approach. The most I'd project is that she might initially lean toward Balthazar, as I suspect in the circumstances that Abby's deference to age and maturity might slightly outweigh her affinity for a fellow geek.
15. What might 10 (Hetty Lange) shout while charging into battle?
Hetty does not charge into battle; she slips up behind you like a ninja. That said, if involved in more formal combat of some kind, she might well utter a classic "En garde!" on engaging her opponent.
16. If you chose a song to represent 8 (Martha Rodgers), which song would you choose?
This is a tossup between classic musical numbers: I am torn between South Pacific's "There is Nothing Like a Dame" and "There's No Business Like Show Business" from Annie Get Your Gun.
17. 1 (Kate Beckett), 6 (Sarah Jane Smith), and 12 (Xander Harris) are having dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it?
I had started to explain that Xander never wins where women are involved...except that here, I think he just might. While Xander will instinctively draw his hand back first, he will also be the first to reach in again while Kate and Sarah Jane are trying to give each other the last pancake. And by the time they reach an agreement, there will be no pancake, and Xander will have a self-satisfied smile on his face.
18. What might be a good pick-up line for 2 (Abby Sciuto) to use on 10 (Hetty Lange)?
Heh. Abby does not need a pickup line where Hetty is concerned; Hetty has canonically observed that Abby has style. Having noted this, I can just barely conceive a conversation in which Abby inquires as to whether Hetty would like to come over and inspect her coffin....
19. What would 5 (Balthazar Blake) most likely be arrested for?
With his magical abilities, Balthazar can usually bamboozle his way out of a prospective arrest. In the circumstances, the one thing he might not be able to quickly talk his way out of would be some sort of tax-evasion charge or a forgery issue related to the paperwork on his serial identities.
20. What is 6's (Sarah Jane Smith's) secret?
You mean besides what we learned about her feelings for the Doctor in "School Reunion", and the part where she has an alien computer in her attic?
What I want it to be is that somewhere in the chaos surrounding the Doctor's transition from Eleven to Twelve, someone with Gallifreyan connections gave her the Time Lord ability to regenerate, so that somewhere, sometime, she will turn up again.
21. If 11 (Dick Grayson) and 9 (David Xanatos) were racing to a destination, who would get there first?
In a physical race, Dick is likely the better-trained athlete and would outpace Xanatos. In anything involving long-distance travel, Xanatos will win by virtue of having more and shinier vehicular toys. (Not that Dick-as-Nightwing wouldn't make a good showing, but short of borrowing an actual Bat-something, he can't match Xanatos' fleet.)
22. If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 (Nick Fury) or 8 (Martha Rodgers)?
Oddly enough, I think I'd feel safer with Martha. The trouble with walking through a bad neighborhood with Nick Fury is that he's a magnet. There will be trouble, because any trouble in the vicinity will gravitate inevitably toward him. Martha, as a veteran New Yorker, is likely to be much better at sliding past any incipient trouble, and I am all about the sliding and the avoidance.
