I suspect you're right about the amount of work involved being greater than the short-term reward - much as sanguinity points out above. Also, if I were going to put in the work to create audiovisual online content on a regular basis, I suspect I'd be happier with something more in the nature of a personal podcast with some sort of literary/media/fannish focus.

Which is not to say I might not at some point do a one-off of something along this line, on the teeny-tiny off chance that it might go viral....
